Time is going by sooooo fast. She is getting so big.

Yesterday I was folding towels and Kenley was tired of being in her bouncy seat and didn't want to do tummy time so I decided to put her in the towel basket. She loved it. She loves the pink and white towel she always looks at it during bath time, it must be the stripes.

Yesterday afternoon Luke said he didn't feel well. Around 4 in the afternoon he started throwing up. He threw up 5 times but had no fever. He said it was the chocolate milk in the cafeteria. As you can see Luke's feeling much better today. Kenley had to a doctor's appt so Luke went to Mimi's so that he wouldn't catch something else. She's a little piggy, she gained 11 ounces in one week. The doctor said that was a little to much, but with everything she has gone through it's okay. Mollie enjoying the sun today.

Luke finally got to hold his baby sister. He hasn't been able to since she has been sick and because he goes to school we didn't want her to catch something that he could have got from school and get her sick. He loves her so much!!

Back to the hospital: Long Update

Kenley had been doing really good at home. Right after Easter I started noticing that Kenley wasn't eating as much and was sleeping more. It wouldn't be a big deal except she had lost weight being in the NICU so we were trying to get her back to her birth weight which was 7lbs. She didn't have a fever and was never fussy. Sometimes, but not every day, she would throw up everything she drank 2 hours later. So I thought maybe she has a really sensitive stomach and we don't need to move her much after her feedings. Well, on Easter when I was burping her she threw up. I am not talking about spit up, this is real throw up. It never bothered her when she would throw up. She kept doing this every other day: either throwing up hours after a bottle or while I was burping her. Well on Tuesday April 13 I thought we were getting better. I thought I had figured out how to handle her and how to burp her without throwing up because she had an awesome day. She didn't miss a feeding that day and never threw up. Well that night several hours after a bottle she threw up and I mean everything. The next morning she was throwing up after every feeding so I decided to call the doctor. We went to go see him and he said she might be sensitive to milk so we changed her formula. For some reason I really didn't think that was the case, but I am not a doctor. Also while we were there we found out that a stool sample that I had to take to the lab to see if she still had salmonella came back positive. So her doctor decided to put her on medicine. I knew she wasn't going to be able to keep it down since she was throwing everything up. So I was so upset as you can imagine. I wanted her to be better and instead I found out she still had Salmonella. The throwing up had nothing to do with the Salmonella. My mom came and stayed with me because I was so upset and Kevin had to go back to work. When I gave her medicine to her, she threw up. So I called the dr. and he wanted to put her in the hospital because she couldn't keep her medicine down. So we went to the hospital Wed. afternoon. They put her medicine threw an IV so that she wouldn't throw it up. He also took her off formula and we did pedialite, which was a terrible decision because she threw that up so fast. I did some research on the internet and found Pyloric Stenoises. Again I am not a doctor and didn't want to say anything to him. The following days she kept throwing everything up. Her doctor decided to see if she had reflux. We went down to Xray and they gave her barrium to drink. You could actually see on the Xray as she swallowed it, it was coming right back up. It never got to her stomach, so that tells us she has REALLY bad reflux. He then told me about Pyloric Stenoises so went back down to the ultrasound room. The results were inconclusive because it didn't show that she didn't have it, but it didn't show that she had it. They said we will do it again on Monday. Well on Sunday one of the nurses saw Dr. Gibson and stopped him and begged him if we could do the ultrasound today because they were pretty forsure that was what she had. So he arranged for that to happen and sure enough it showed on the ultrasound that she had it. They look for this thing that looks like an olive. I was releived when they said that's what she had because I knew it could be fixed. Where as if she had reflux we would have to deal with it until she out grew it. My mom knows Dr. Gibson and he knew how stressed I had been so he said he would do the surgery today. Well, I was now so scared, not of the surgery, but of the anasthetics. The Anathesiologist came and talked to me and reasurred me that he felt confident putting her under because all her labs came back looking real good. I couldn't even take her down to the waiting room were they take her from you to go into surgery. I was so sad and scared. My mom took her down for me and Kevin stayed with me because I was at rock bottom again. Her face was covered in my tears when I was saying bye to her. Time went by so slow as we waited for Dr. Gibson to come and tell us how it went. Finally he came out and said it went perfect. I was now crying with happy tears. He did mention that they could still throw up 48 hrs. after surgery. Well the next day in the evening she threw up. Her pediatrician decided to keep her a few more days and to put her on reflux medicine because he thought she might have that. Well after that she didn't throw up again but we kept giving her reflux medicine. I could see a big difference in her fast. She was eating more and was burping normal. When we left the hospital she was back to her birth weight at 7 lbs. We ended up staying in the hospital for a week and 1 day. We are now at home and she hasn't thrown up and she is eating 4 ozs. which is really good for her.

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile, we have been really busy. So I am going to give an update. Kenley was born on Wed. March 17 and on Friday March 19 Kenley got really sick and they admitted her in the NICU. Kevin and I stayed at the hospital till she was out. We would rotate to go see Luke and he would also come up there to see us. We left the NICU Monday March 29.

Luke's 1st baseball game

Saturday was Luke's first baseball game. Kevin and I decided that both of us would go together. Someone has always been staying at the hospital with Kenley, but the nurses thought that it would be a good idea for us to both get out. This was his first time to hit with a pitching machine and he did awesome. He had 2 games and his team won both. After his game we took him to Wal Mart to get a book that he has wanted since he has been so good through all of this.

I am going to tell you everything and PLEASE if you have any information and/or have heard of anything PLEASE let me know. They tested me for salmonella and sure enough I have it. I haven't had any symptoms which can be normal for adults or at least I don't think I have. Right after Kenley was born I lost my appetite and I did the same when Luke was born too. So I really haven't eaten anything since Wed. March 17. On Monday they wanted me to give a stool sample. Well I couldn't go to the restroom so I had to take stool softeners and drink 1 dose of Miralax. I was able to go but it was very hard. Well on Friday March 26th at 1:00 am to 3:00 am I had very very loose stools. I thought maybe all those stool softeners and Miralax were finally hitting me. Not to be gross but it smelt like Kenley's and was yellow and stringy (not sure if that's because i haven't eaten or am I trying to pass the Salmonella). When I went to go see Kenley in the NICU the lab called and said I tested positive for Salmonella and I just broke down in tears because no one was able to give me for sure information. The nurses were so sweet and they comforted me and told me that it would be better if they kept Kenley instead of me taking her to the room by myself. Poor Kevin was in Big Spring when all this was happening. The GI doctor finally came and visited with me quickly because I am considered an out-patient. He told me that they normally don't treat this, but I am going to give you medication. He also said something about something going to my gallbladder. I told him about my very loose stools (not sure if it's from the stool softeners or if I was trying to pass the bacteria) and he didn't give me an answer. He told me he wanted me to continue taking the Miralax but only half the dosage and if I continue to have loose stools to call him. So I was really confused, because I was already having loose stools and wouldn't the Miralax just make it worse. I was also confused because I didn't know if I should take this medication because it might prolong the Salmonella. Well, Kevin and I did some research from some reliable websites and found out that I might be a carrier (not sure what that means), I could just pass it by going to the restroom, I could shed it for 5 weeks (don't know what the means either), and it can only be passed from feces to mouth or by food poisoning. This is what we found out about treating it with medication. They usually don't do that unless a young child has it, an elder person, or someone with a weak immune system. As you can tell this has added some stress on me because I am not sure if I should take this medication. I am going to call the doctor on Monday and try to find something out. However on the good side, we were glad to hear that I have it because we now know how Kenley got it. When she was born she caught it. The doctor told me that you can get salmonella from anything, like taking a bite of a bad piece of lettuce, so we have no idea where I got it from. This makes me wonder if there are other people who might have salmonella and not know it because they don't have any symptoms. I want to know if we would have found out that I had it before Kenley was born and had a C-section would she have caught it. Her doctor told me that when babies are born (not by a C-section) they are exposed to everything in your front private area and back private area. Please let me know if you have any information.

Luke finally got to see his baby sister. He had only been able to see her through the glass when she was in the nursery. No children are allowed in the NICU so he can't see her when she's in there. He was so excited and happy to finally be able to actually see her. He can't hold her yet, because the doctor wants to make sure she doesn't catch something. We are still moving forward w/Kenley getting better. This afternoon Kenley had a few wires (TPN) removed so now we can dress her. She will now also be choosing when she would like a bottle. We have been feeding her every 3 hrs. but now we will let her choose when she would like to eat (from 2 to 4 hrs). She didn't really enjoy getting dressed, I don't blame her. Kenley's nickname that I came up with while feeding her is "Little Miss Roo." Here is a pic after her bath and eating. When we have to stop and burp she opens her mouth and snorts looking for her bottle. She has a nurse (actually all of her nurses) who absolutley adores her. She made her the hat she has on and also made her carebear with her birth information on it. I can't even explain how wonderful the nurses are hear. I love them so much for taking specail care of our little girl.

Hello, again. This is Tambra posting an update for Carley.

The test for what type of bacteria Kenley has, came back today. She has salmonella. Carley said that the hospital staff had seen very few cases of salmonella in an infant this young.

In order to keep family, friends, and nursery mates well, Kenley spends most of her time in "her house". "Kenley's house" happens to be an incubator in the NICU. Kevin and Carley are able to hold her and feed her still. Carely says they have to suit up in scrubs that look and feel like a sauna suit. The look is made complete with rubber gloves.

Carley hasn't missed a feeding since Kenley has been in the NICU and she says she is beginning to eat with gusto. Kenley's white blood cell count is also on the rise. She is also gaining the weight back that she lost!

The Smith's expect that Kenley will end up spending between 10-14 days in the NICU. The stay will be longer if Kenley's spinal fluid is infected with the bacteria.

Please continue to pray for Kenley's recovery!

Kenley Update

Hello all. I know many of you have been waiting on an Kenley update. Carley is not the author of this post, Tambra is. I had a chance to visit with Carley on Saturday at Luke's birthday party. I will try to keep it simple and try to keep all the details straight.

Carley said that in the day Kenley was born, she and Kevin thought they had been given the best, most mellow baby ever! She was calm and quiet all that day. Heading in to Thursday, there were signs that she might be very ill: not crying when she was changed, being completely cooperative when getting her hand prints done, and seeming lethargic. Kenley also had a fever and was not eating well.

On Thursday, Kenley was admitted into the NICU. They gave her an IV and she was placed in an incubator. The doctor says that Kenley has a bacterial infection. Kenley is receiving an IV antibiotic to fight the infection. Yesterday after Luke's party, Carley and Kevin were finally able to hold their sweet baby again! Today, Kenley got to have her first bottle since being in the NICU (they were feeding her by IV).

They expect that Kenley will be in the NICU from 7-21 days (Let's pray for 7!) depending on what type of bacterial infection she has. Carley says Kenley seems to be heading in the right direction. She is getting more "fiesty" each day!

It will take a while for Kenley to be able to meet the world. The doctors tested her blood counts, and she has a low white blood cell count. This will make her more venerable to other types of illnesses.

Carley and Kevin are thankful that Kenley is under constant supervision by great nurses and one of the best NICU doctors in Texas. They would like to thank you for your support and prayers.

I will try to post another update tomorrow so Carley can focus on showering her new baby with love. Carley said she is looking forward to returning all of her missed calls, your texts, and posting pictures of a healthy Kenley once they are on the other side of this.

Kenley arrived at 5:05 today. She is 7lbs and 19 in. long. She is very healthy and beautiful. We didn't call people because the dr. said she was a little premature and nobody needs to be holding her except mom and dad, so that she doesn't get sick. We will have more pics coming.

I can't post pics yet because I don't want Luke to see. I am making him a big brother gift bag to give to him when he comes to the hospital. We just got his Big Brother T Shirt in. It's a football shirt. We also ordered him a Batman book. He loves Batman. The book will have his name and other information about him throughout it. I found it on internet and there's all sorts of books they will do like that. We are still waiting for that to come in. I am also going to fill the bag with little nick-nack stuff. I will post a picture of the bag after Luke gets it.

Snowy Day: Dr. Appt.

Kevin couldn't make it to this appt., he was in Big Spring. The dr. office called earlier today to see if i could come in earlier due to the weather. Everything looks great, and as of now, I will be induced March 31. I really wanted to go as long as I could because of my days at work, but the Dr. said that we can always change it or she might come earlier than March 31 too. He really wants to be their to deliver that's why he wants to induce.

I just finished making Kenley's bow holder. I really wanted to order one online, but Kevin wouldn't let me have one for $90 so I decided I would try to make one. It was very hard, but I loved how it turned out. I put a few bows on it and it can also hold bows at the top of the dress too. I also finished her baskets. I had extra material and fringe from her bedding so I used that. My next project that I will attempt will be to make her pettiskirt (not sure if i spelled that correctly).

Luke and I were so happy to hear no school today. We woke up and it looked so pretty seeing the snow fall. We ate breakfast and then went and played in the snow. When we were done we came in to have some hot chocolate. I have a doctors appt this afternoon, so we will see if I will be making that. For those who haven't heard, I am now going to the doctor weekly. Last week when I went I told him that my stomach as been tightning up hard and it happens all the time at work. He said I was having Braxton Hicks contractions. So he wrote me a note for work (I sound like a kid) explaining that I don't need to be on my feet as much. Karen has helped me so much. We will see what he says at this appt.

Re-take for 3d Sonogram

We went last Tuesday for my 28th week appt. and 3d sonogram pic. I wasn't going to get my hopes up about getting a good pic of her face since she has been stubborn. Sure enough we didn't get a good pic, she wouldn't put her arm down. The ladies are wonderful and said we could come back today and try again so we are. Everyone who knows me knows that I like to get things done as soon as i am given a date they did to be finished by. Since I don't plan on going back to work till next August, I had maternity plans to do. I am proud to say that I have pretty much finished them along with a little book of rules and procedures that I made for my sub. I had finished them in December and already have copies made to April 2nd. Can't make anymore right now, I don't have space.

After Luke's game & Baby Shower Invitation

After his game, Luke went with his dad since his cousin was in town so that they could play. Kevin and I went to eat with my mom at the Tom Green County Stockshow Sale. We then went to Target to buy a baby shower gift for one of my friend's Gentry. Well, we also had to get Kenley something too. So we got her an outfit. I also bought 12 crochet headbands w/big flowers off the internet and they should be here next week (can't wait to see them). I want her to have a bow that practically hangs in her face, with every outfit. Way off the subject, but I am already planning on what I want her to wear for her newborn pictures, we will see if I can find a petiskirt at an affordable price. There's a pic of what I am trying to find. (I wish I could sew). Okay, back to the weekend. When we got back from Target, we checked the mail and we got our baby shower invitation. I LOVE IT!!

Luke's 1st Basketball Game

Luke had his first his basketball game this weekend and it went really good. He got to start the game. He does really good on defense and listens to his coaches very well. They were funny to watch. I was so upset because something was wrong my camera, the flash wouldn't work. So I got one picture, but that's okay because my mom brought her's and we got some pics.

Doggie Art

We decided to go eat at Shogun for dinner tonight, but I didn't want to leave our dogs outside because of the freezing weather. So, I decided to keep them in the kitchen since it has tile but we don't have a gate that's long enough to keep them from going to the other part of the house. So I moved the couch over to be the gate. They both went potty before we left, I put all their toys in the kitchen, put their pillows in their too, and I also cleaned the counter off. I also decided to take their food up too because when they eat they like to dump all their food out and scatter it. I thought I did good and thought they would be fine. Actually I thought that we might come home to shredded pillows (they love to do that), instead we came home to what you see in the pics. They had gotten into Luke's art supplies. Mollie had green on her chest and Wilson had blue all over his paws.

Okay, I thought buying for a girl would be easy, but right now it's not. Hopefully there will be more clothes for her closer to spring time. I have seen the cutest boys outfits. We found her a sweater for next winter. We also found her a ladybug outfit (sooo cute). One of my very close friends, Marcie loves lady bugs and I like them too now. I just need to get a big red bow.

We had a very relaxing New Year's. We fixed fajitas for dinner and watched TV. We explained to Luke what happens at midnight and he was excited. I had bought new years blowers and white grape juice for Luke and I to drink at midnight. When it turned midnight, I think Luke thought something big was going to happen. He did have fun staying up late. Our pups also enjoyed it too.

Christmas Gifts

We all got wonderful gifts. I'm pretty sure Luke got everything he wanted and more. We got a lot of baby items for our Christmas. My parents bought Kenley's mattress and crib for us. My mom also got us a hand made pink baby blanket and Kenley's first scrapbook. Kevin's parents ordered her bedding for us for Christmas (I'm so excited to see it). Kevin got me her stroller too. I really wanted a pink one, but since we plan on having one more I decided to go with neutral colors. I'm also afraid I might get tired of pink one day, I doubt it though (there is way to much pink for girls). My sister got Kenley a pair of vintage socks that I love and a vintage night light that I wanted for her room. We are now making progress on getting her room together (for those who know me, know that if i could i would have her room done and everything in it in one day. I would like to have her room fully completed by the end of February.) My mom and dad also got me the Willow Treee Nativity Scene for Christmas.

We had a wonderful Christmas. I woke up at 6:50 since my parents, sister, Hunter, and grandma were coming over @ 7:00 to watch Luke open up presents. For breakfast we had a breakfast casserole and I made Star Bucks Cranberry Bliss bars. After we opened presents and had breakfast Luke went to his dad's to do Christmas. While Luke was at his dad's Kevin and Hunter got a chance to play on the Wii that we got for Christmas. My mom, sister, and I got Christmas dinner ready. My mom brought her mom's crystal over for us to use for dinner. We sat the table up really pretty. After Christmas dinner we played the Wii again.

It turned out really good!! Mollie was sitting at the door wondering what we were doing since we never go in that room. She has no idea who will be in that room soon.

We had a scare

Friday morning at school we were watching X Mas movies with Karen's class. Karen is also pregnant, we are 5 weeks apart. Wed. and Thurs. I told her that I haven't felt Kenley move at all. She usually moves a lot. I was kind of joking when I asked her if I should call the Doctor and just see what they say. So I decided to call; I told the nurse that this is going to be a silly question but i haven't felt the baby move for 2 full days and going on the third. She then asked how far along i was and i said 24 weeks. She then said you need to come in right now for an emergency sonogram. I was shocked, I told her I'm a teacher and don't think i can right now. She said I needed to. So I ran to Karen's room and told her that they want me to come in. We were both shocked. I ran to the office scared and crying and told my principal what had happened and she let me go (she's the best). My mom met me up there. I only had to wait for a few minutes and they called me back. They did the sonogram and said that nothing was wrong that she looked very healthy. They said she had positioned herself behind my uterus. So when she was kicking she was kicking my uterus and I couldn't feel anything. Later that night I could feel her move so much.

X Mas Party

Luke had a X Mas party at Gtti's. He got to buy toys with his Arrnie Dillo dollars, make a stocking, and see Santa. Luke also drinking hot chocolate in front of the tree.

Luke had a X Mas tree contest at school. We went all out on it (actually I did). We did a Star Wars tree with X Mas lights. Luke won 1st place.

Kerrville

We drove to Kerrville Friday, Dec. 4 for a wedding that Kevin was in. The wedding didn't start till the evening on Saturday and since I have never been to Fredericksburg, Kevin took me early morning. I LOVED IT!! We got there early and were able to pick any parking spot we wanted to. We ate breakfast at some little cafe. We then walked to the visitor center to get a map of all the shops. They were having their Christmas in the Park too. Kevin loved it too since he could walk with his beer while I shopped. I wanted to drink wine soooo bad. We found Kenley's diaper bag (I love it! My Christmas present). We also found her an outfit, 2 bows, and a "K".

Black Friday

I woke up at 2:30 in the morning to start shopping. It was sooo much fun, yet very tiring. I can't show everything I got because Luke can't see. I did get Kenley some clothes.

Snow in San Angelo

Thursday night Dec. 3 it started to snow. When we woke up to get ready for school there were huge snowflakes flakes falling. Kevin left for work early that morning because we had to go to Kerrville right after work. Well, when I went to start the truck I rolled the back windows down to knock the snow off. When I tried to roll them back up one of the windows wouldn't come up. So I had to call Kevin and he had to drive us to school or Luke would have freezed. School was fun, we took the kids out to play and take their pics in the snow.

1st For Sure Kicks

Nov. 9 was my first time for sure I felt Kenley kick. I was laying on the couch with the laptop on my stomach and I felt her kick. I think I felt her earlier in the weeks, but wasn't sure. Kevin's first time to actually feel her kick was Dec. 4th. She is so active from about 10:00 to midnight.

Luke Lost His 1st Tooth

Luke lost his first tooth on Nov. 16. He was playing outside with his friend after school and they bumped into each other. His tooth was bleeding and I looked at it and noticed it was loose. When we got home I twisted it a little and it came right out. It must have been loose for a while because his new tooth was already coming in. Here are a few pics. Some are of him waking up and seeing finding what the Toothfairy left him. He was so happy!

Austin Trip

Even though I felt terrible in Austin, we did have fun. When we got there my sister gave us a pink cake. She also bought Kenley a frame and a princess fork and spoon. We went X-Mas shopping for Luke, that was fun. We also got Kenley a few things. We got her 2 new born outfits from Macy's and her pink headband and hat from Nordstroms. We also got her other 2 headbands from the Children's Place. My mom also bought us her baby book, I love it.

Possible Bedding for Kenley

I was sick with a cold in Austin, but made myself shop as much as possible. We went to a new store in Austin called Buy Buy Baby. The best baby store I have seen and have been in. It has very very nice items, expensive though (not all items). I found this bedding, but didn't get it since it is so early and i might come across something else i like, but doubt it. I don't like the mobile and don't really want one, so the bedding still works for us. The lamp also goes with the bedding. I don't really want any pics on her bedding, I want something very elegant and vintage.

We Are Having A Baby GIRL!!!

Yesterday is when we found out. We are so excited, especially Luke. When I told Luke he said "Yes!" "I told you, you were going to have a girl." I love the lady who does the sonograms. I had her son in my class last year. She is so sweet and very nice. She said Kenley is a very active baby girl. She was moving around so much. She said everything looks really good. She weighs 7 ounces. Kenley Nolan should arrive around April 9th. Kevin had to go back to work after the appt. When he came home he gave me a dozen pink roses (soooo sweet). We will now have 2 princesses Kenley and Mollie.

Spoiled Pups

Our other "children" are very spoiled. They perfer the furniture instead of the carpet. They also both sleep in bed with us. If they fall asleep in the living room, they will wake up in the middle of the night and want in bed. No babies in bed with us, just the dogs. At night is when they will get their 1-on-1 attention from us after the baby is born. If I haven't already mentioned this, our pups have full names too. Mollie's is Mollie Anne Nicole Smith and Wilson's is Wilson Eugene Herbert Smith III. I told Kevin if we have a boy his name could be Wilson Eugene Herbert Smith IV.

Halloween Night

We had a wonderful Halloween. In the evening we went to a Halloween party at my friend's house. It was a kid's party. They got to carve pumpkins, decorate cookies, and eat pizza. Then we went home and got the dogs dressed and went trick-or-treating. The dogs didn't last very long. We took them to my friend's house who I teach with (she lives a few streets down). After trick-or-treating, Luke wanted to go home and give candy out.

Fall Festival

We had a busy Halloween. On Thursday Luke had his fall festival at school. He loved the haunted house and was very happy to win a cupcake at the cupcake walk. Nana came with us too.

Red Ribbon Week

My Projects for Work

I made a giant Red Clifford for Red Ribbon week. I looked at a book and drew him. I then made paws to go around him. My next project is Oscar from the book The Hallow-Weiner. I drew a giant winniedog and we are going to use him to sequence events from the story.

Luke and School

Luke loves Holiman and his teacher. I was nervous at first for him since he has never been in a classroom with more than 6 kids. At first he was nervous too, when he didn't understand something he would get teary eyed, but his teacher would reasure him that it was okay and that she is hear to help him (soooo sweet). I don't know what will happen when he gets a yellow though. I'm sure I will hear him from my classroom. Another wonderful thing is that one of my good friends has a son who is in kindergarten and Luke goes over to her classroom to play with him. They get along so well. If we have a meeting that's close to my room or she has a meeting, the boys come and play in my room. What both boys have done: So far Luke has hurt himself by jumping off the table while we were in a staff meeting. They love to play swords with our pointers and Luke got one up the nose. He also broke 2 of mine while playing baseball with them. They have both been soaked from playing on the playground after it has rained. My favorite is that they found a dead cat on the playground. Mrs. Hollway told the boys to come in her room while the man got the cat. She thought they shouldn't see that, but both boys wanted to so they watched the man put the dead cat in a bag. They are becoming really good friends.

This Weekend

This weekend I decided to make announcements for when we find out what we are having. Instead of calling, we are going to send one of these announcements in the mail when we find out. So, be checking the mail to see what we will be having. I hope I can wait and not tell anyone, but we will see. We also finished cleaning out the room that will be for the baby. I'm a planner and like for everything to be done very neat and asap, that's why it would be impossibe for me not to find out what I am having. Just ask the girls I work with, they get a kick out of my neatness. Kevin also cleaned up the garage, not that it was a mess, but I wanted it organized for baby things and Christmas decorations (I plan on getting all the decorations down from the attic the Sunday after Halloween, I want my decorations to be up for a while). I would like to have everything done for the baby when it is born so that I won't have to do much (decorating wise, I know we will be super busy) when it arrives. I think it's going to drive Kevin crazy, but I told him that he will be glad when we have everything done. We find out next Wednesday what we are having and then my mom and I are going to Austin that weekend to go shopping.

3rd Doctor Appt.

We had our 3rd dr. appt. today and Kevin was able to go. It was the quickest for sure. I gained 1 pound since last month. Everything looked good. The baby's heartbeat was 158. For dinner we ate at Mr. Gatti's for Luke's school. Luke loves school and really likes his teacher.

Kevin had a bowling tournament in Lubbock so Luke and I decided to go to the pumpkin patch to get a pumpkin. He didn't want to carve a jack-o-lantern, instead he wanted to do "Mr. Potato Head" pumpkin. I found these push ins at Wal Mart, they turned out cute. We also decorated our front door too. My third Dr. appt. is October 20. My doctor said 2 weeks after that we will find out what we are having. One of my friends looked at this Baby Gender Predictor and Survey Base on an ancient Chinese Statistic Chart online and according to it we are having a girl.

Saturday

Luke stayed the night with his dad last night and came home this evening. This morning Kevin went dove hunting and shot enough for dinner. While he was hunting, I decided to try to make pinto beans (my favorite). They turned out very good! When Kevin got back we went to Expecting a store downtown and I got this shirt. As we were driving back home we decided to cook the dove. We went to walmart and got jalopones and bacon to wrap them in. They were yummy! I am also learning the game of football. I've been asking Kevin so many questions during the games. Oh, yesterday after work I was craving fried pickles. Kevin and I tried to make them. They were okay, we've never had them before so wasn't sure how they were suppose to taste.

This Weekend

We had a very busy weekend. This weekend was Kevin's Alumni baseball game. After the game the guys went and played golf. While Kevin was playing golf I went to a bridal shower. Sunday morning Kevin was very sore and was limping around the house. This morning I decided to make papersack luminaries for Halloween. For dinner tonight Kevin and I made steak and mash potatoes stuffed in poblano peppers, it was so good.

Kevin and I went to Ichiban's for dinner and as we were waiting for our food we started to talk about names. We came up with Kenley Nolan Smith for a girl (Nolan is from Nolan Ryan) and Brenton Harley Smith for a boy (Harley is my dad's name).

2nd Dr. Appointment

I told Kevin not to worry about making the appointment so that he wouldn't have to speed from Big Spring. Luke came with me. The nurse came in and said that she was going to try to find the heart beat, but told me not to worry if she couldn't find it because I might be to early, but she found it. I was so happy when I heard it and so was Luke. I felt bad that Kevin missed it. I am 12+ weeks to 13 weeks.

First Dr. Appointment

My first Dr. appointment was August 25. Luke and Kevin both came. We did our first sonogram and were so happy to see a very tiny baby. According to the sonogram my due date will be April 5. Well, it got to be a long wait with the sonogram, blood test, and Dr. visit; and Luke was getting tired so Kevin took Luke to Mimi's. Luke did get to see them do the sonogram and thought it was neat. According to my Dr. and last period my due date is April 9. It's really neat because Luke's birthday is April 2. Everything went really good.

We are Expecting

We wanted to have a baby in the middle of April so that I wouldn't have to go back to work till next August. We had no idea how complicated it was to plan having a baby at a certain time. It kind of happened a little to early, but it will still work out. We are all so excited!!!
